Happy Christmas! Merry Holidays!

Just sharing what I've been working on (in between making Christmas cakes, moving the furniture around and going to family dinners with lots of aunties, cousins etc) yesterday and wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!

LOL

This has happened in real life.

Recently I saw this huge cat being so scared of the tiniest dog ever. Needless to say the cat wasn't as big as in the picture but it certainly was much bigger than the dog. For some reason I found this very funny.  So funny that I just had to draw and share this.

Preview

Yes preview! Yesterday I had thoughts about all sorts of cool things to write as an introduction to this sketch (well part of a sketch) and right now I have to admit I've forgotten all of them. I know, I know I should have written them down exactly when they came to my mind but I was really busy and couldn't do so.
So without a lovely introduction I'm just gonna say that  I thought I'd share a part (a tiny part) of one of my sketches that will evolve into an illustration for this book that I'm writing and illustrating. I'm really happy about the characters of the story and above you can see one of the main character's shoe haha

Seriously though, I'll come back here with more posts :)

A Blog A Day

Just realized thats it's almost been a month since my last blog. Thats quite a long time. I should be blogging more. Maybe a blog a day if possible. OK I admit this goal can not be easily accomplished. But  I feel like I must try to blog more because after all blogging means opening up.  So here I am picking up where I left of and continuing that walk in the park from the previous blog (and planning what to blog about next!)   ;)

Inspiration: walking in the park

There's no doubt in my mind, a walk in the park is one of the most inspiring things. Do I really need to explain why? The park is beautiful thats why. And you get a chance to escape the city madness for a little while, reason number two.  Lets be honest I could go on like this for hours writing reason after reason why walking in the park is pretty amazing. In fact thats what I wish I could do right now: walk around my favorite park maybe with a coffee in hand and with my mind filled with even more ideas about this book I'm writing (and illustrating of course). Here are some park pics I took sometime earlier this year.

Pumpkin (Day) Sketches

Pumpkin day is fast approaching! And yes for some weird reason I really prefer calling it Pumpkin day instead of Halloween. Not exactly sure why I just think it's more fun. Or maybe it's because I like the pumpkin lanterns that are usually made for Halloween. Either way my  two sketches above were inspired by pumpkins and Pumpkin day of course haha

Books, books and more books!

Thats how I feel sometimes, that I'm constantly surrounded by books! And lets admit it, it is kinda true. Most of the time I'm reading something and I've got this huge collections of books: novels, illustrated books (my favorites as you probably have guessed), cook books, comic books, travel guides etc. The problem of course is that there's not much room left at home and I dont know where to put all those books anymore but thats a different story haha
Anyway when I was asked to create an illustration (for the course I've been attending) about this  character who has finally found the perfect place to call home for some reason (LOL) I immediately thought of books. So here is the character I came up with, a little glass wearing owl surrounded by lots of books of course.

A quite random page from my sketchbook. It's been made with watercolors and I really have a soft spot for that elephant. Thats all haha

Btw I've decided to try and blog more!

Start of September = Always a fresh start

At least thats why it is on my mind. The beginning of autumn always felt like a new start, a new years day of some sort. Maybe it's the school mentality that I somehow carry around with me (even though I've hated being at school).... maybe it's something else. All that matters is that this is generally a very positive and optimistic feeling!

Speaking of positive and optimistic feelings here's a drawing I've made quite recently of my dog who always manages to make me smile.

Happy New Year

I know, I know it's a little bit late but I couldnt resist making a happy-new-year blog. Sunflowers radiate this optimistic, positive feeling for me. So what better than to start the new year with a sunflower illustration (that I finished drawing yesterday).
